75337 LEGO AT-TE Walker | A must buy Star Wars LEGO set investment currently at discount

Published: 1 year ago

Last Updated: 1 month ago

75337 LEGO AT-TE Walker. A must buy Star Wars LEGO set investment currently at discount. While the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer may not be as iconic as the AT-AT, it has its own distinct place in Star Wars history. First used to attack Alderaan, the AT-TE serves as the primary battle tank of the Grand Army of the Republic. The AT-TE Walker's design was heavily inspired by the four-legged Roman siege engine called a ballista, which were used to fire bolts and arrows at enemy fortifications and troops. The iconic walker features six articulated legs for propulsion and was designed for maximum manoeuvrability.  It first appeared in the Star Wars universe in the 2005 animated film, "Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith", and its instantly recognizable design has made it a fan favourite.

Theme Analysis

The Lego Star Wars theme continues to deliver strong growth (8% annualised) across a broad range of sub themes and the episode III sub theme is above average delivering 10% annualised returns. A sample of sets below show the broad range of growth available within the sub-theme, but it is still worth picking the stronger sets and we think this will be one of them in the future.

The pick of these is the Clone Turbo Tank (75151) which has more than doubled in price since it retired just over 5 years ago, an annualised return of 16%.

Set Number Set Name Retired Date RRP Current Value Total Growth Annualised Growth
75042 Droid Gunship 31/12/2015 $50 $121 142% 11%
75043 AT-AP 31/12/2015 $60 $141 135% 10%
75151 Clone Turbo Tank 31/12/2017 $110 $340 209% 18%
8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle 31/12/2011 $60 $195 225% 10%

Comparable Set Analysis

We have also looked at similar models across all LEGO Star Wars sub-themes and again there is a similar pattern to within the sub-theme of consistent growth but a need for set selection to optimise future returns.

The stunning performance of The Republic Dropship with AT-OT Walker (10195) which has nearly 700% growth in 12 years (20% annualised) is nearly matched by the Motorised Walking AT-AT which has nearly 500% growth in 7 years (15% annualised) are the sets we would like this one to mirroring post retirement.

Set Number Set Name Retired Date RRP Current Value Total Growth Annualised Growth
10178 Motorized Walking AT-AT 31/12/2010 $130 $554 326% 11%
10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT 31/12/2011 $250 $2,239 796% 19%
75054 AT-AT 31/12/2015 $110 $145 32% 3%
75189 First Order Heavy Assault Walker 31/07/2019 $150 $180 20% 4%

Conclusion

A cracking model from the renowned strong Star Wars theme, a strong sub-theme and a decent 20% discount available to purchase currently is more than enough for us to recommend this as a strong investment. Add in the value of the minifigures (4 of which are unique) and we think this will be a strong investment for the medium to long term.
