Investment Potential
LEGO Mario & Yoshi is the last LEGO Super Mario release and comes with just over 1200 pieces and a price per brick of 11c / 10p. LEGO 71438 is a great retro model and one that is sure to have appeal to Nintendo and especially Super Mario fans. Will this be one to buck the trends of the LEGO Super Mario theme?

Theme Analysis
The LEGO Super Mario theme has not been a good one for LEGO investors to date with it all but breaking even across all retired sets since launching in 2020, across just over 150 sets of which 120 are now retired.
We have looked at some sets which all show single figure digit growth to break even since retirement. LEGO Bowser’s Castle (71369) retired at the end of 2021 and has seen 22% growth from its $100 RRP (8% annualised growth) and LEGO Thwomp Drop (71376) has seen 20% growth from its $40 RRP (7% annualised growth).

Conclusion
For Super Mario fans this retro 16 bit LEGO Mario and Yoshi model will be a must have LEGO set, and that definitely applies to a couple of us here at Investabrick! A great looking, realistic set with great build and display capabilities, it is also a LEGO set that we think may make a LEGO investment longer term.
