Theme Analysis
How much more can we say about the overall Lego Star Wars Theme! Historic average annualised growth of 17% over a long period of time and a large sample size with a long list of successful investment sets.
Below we have looked at some of the sets in a similar price range to Lego Mos Eisley Cantina and can see excellent performance again, close to the 17% annualised growth of the wider theme.
The picks of these sets are Lego Star Wars Super Star Destroyer (10221) which has nearly trebled in value from £349.99 to over £1,000 in 8 ½ years since retiring (14% annualised growth) and Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Millenium Falcon (10179) which retired in 2009 with an RRP of £342.99 and is now worth almost 5 times that value at £1,730 (13% annualised growth).

Comparable Set Analysis
The Lego Master Builder Series sub theme is much harder to evaluate as currently there has only been one retired set. That said, what a set it was! Lego Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) retired in Dec 2019 with an RRP of £299.99 and is currently valued at more than double that amount, close to £700, delivering annualised growth of a stunning 26%.
Set Number | Set Name | Retired Date | RRP | Current Value | Total Growth | Annualised Growth |
75222 | Betrayal at Cloud City | 31/12/2019 | $350 | $863 | 147% | 21% |
Conclusion
What’s not to love about what appears to be another blockbuster Star Wars LEGO set? If we were being picky then the lack of track record in the sub theme could be seen as a small negative (despite the stellar performance of the one retired set) but in a general theme this strong and with such a track record we think this will prove to be another strong investment.
Coming up to 3 years shelf life but expected to be available for the rest of this year, and most likely next year too, we would look to future discounts to purchase this set (historically it has been included in the 20% sale at John Lewis earlier this year).
