The LEGO Marvel The Avengers Assemble: Age of Ultron (76291) set brings to life the thrilling opening battle from the 2015 blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron. Comprising of 613 pieces, this August 2024 release is designed to delight fans of Super Hero playsets, LEGO Marvel minifigures, and model-making enthusiasts aged 10 and up. The set features iconic Marvel characters, including Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, a large Hulk figure, and three Hydra Troopers minifigures. With a mega, modular design, the five modules can be reconfigured for endless play possibilities or combined to create a stunning display piece. The set is also packed with various weapons, accessories, and a push-along off-road vehicle.

Investment Potential
LEGO 76921 is a great multi-faceted LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set and sure to be a big hit with Marvel Super Heroes fans, coming with just over 600 pieces which make up 5 reconfigurable modules. The $100 / £90 RRP equates to quite a high 16c / 15p per brick, but this at least partly assuaged by the inclusion of 8 LEGO minifigures as well as 1 big figure of the Hulk.

The LEGO Marvel Superheroes theme was launched in 2012 and since then over 300 sets have been released of which nearly 250 are now retired. The retired LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets deliver an average annualised growth of 10% with quite a wide range of sets and theme, some successful, some less so.

We took a look at some of the retired LEGO sets below including LEGO Attack on Avengers Tower (76038) which has seen 177% growth from its $60 RRP since retiring in 2016 (15% annualised growth), LEGO The Hydra Fortress Smash which has seen just over 150% growth since retiring in 2015 with a $50 RRP (12% annualised growth) and LEGO The Avengers Quinjet City Chase which has seen nearly 70% growth since retiring in 2016 (7% annualised growth).

Conclusion
LEGO 76291 is a great looking LEGO set from a solid if unspectacular theme (albeit with a few gems included). Both the overall LEGO Marvel Super Heroes theme and the LEGO Avengers: Age of Ultron sub-theme both have historic returns of 10% on average and we think it is very possible this set will slightly outperform that when it retires. The only slight concern for us at Investabrick is the high price per brick but this is somewhat negated by the LEGO minifigures included.
