Who could forget the iconic scene from Jurassic Park, where the T-Rex escapes its enclosure and terrorizes the park guests? Theme Analysis

We took a look at the general Jurassic World theme and were more than encouraged with the average annualised growth of 13% shown across the retired sets. The pick of these is the Indominus Rex LEGO set (75919), another breakout similar to this current set which since retiring in 2016 has more than trebled in price with 21% annualised growth. Another strong performer is LEGO Jurassic world T. rex Transport (75933) which has shown annualised growth of 18% since retiring at the end of 2019.

Set Number Set Name Retired Date RRP Current Value Total Growth Annualised Growth
75919 Indominus Rex Breakout 31/12/2016 $130 $422 225% 16%
75929 Carnotaurus Gyrosphere Escape 31/12/2019 $80 $115 44% 8%
75931 Dilophosaurus Outpost Attack 31/07/2020 $40 $80 100% 18%
75933 T. Rex Transport 31/12/2019 $70 $139 99% 16%

Comparable Set Analysis

The sample size in the Jurassic Park sub-theme is far more limited with only 2 sets having retired to date. The first to retire in April 2018 was LEGO Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase (75392) which has seen just 4% annualised growth, the other is LEGO Jurassic Park T.rex Rampage which has performed better with 14% annualised growth.

Set Number Set Name Retired Date RRP Current Value Total Growth Annualised Growth
75932 Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase 31/12/2019 $40 $77 92% 15%
75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage 31/12/2021 $250 $340 36% 12%

Conclusion

Some very encouraging performance from retired sets within the LEGO Jurassic World theme, especially the other breakout model of Indominus Rex along with the performance of the recently retired LEGO Jurassic Park T. rex Rampage model make this a decent investment option for us. It may be one if you’re a an of the film to buy a couple of and build and display the second one!
