LEGO and Formula 1 Join Forces | What the 2025 Product Line-up Means for Fans and Investors

The LEGO Group has unveiled an exciting collaboration with Formula 1 at the 2024 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. This highly anticipated LEGO cars product range is set to hit the shelves in early 2025, marking the start of a multi-year partnership between the two global icons. Celebrating the 75th anniversary of Formula 1®, this collaboration merges the thrill of racing with the creative possibilities of LEGO, offering a lineup of LEGO car sets that appeals to fans young and old alike from LEGO Technic cars to LEGO Speed Champions; who wouldn’t want to own their own LEGO F1 car!

What’s in the Lineup?

For the first time, LEGO will represent all ten F1 teams in various product ranges, including LEGO DUPLO, LEGO City, LEGO Speed Champions, and LEGO Collectibles. Here’s what makes each category unique:

  • LEGO Speed Champions & Collectibles
Known for their detailed designs, LEGO Speed Champions sets will allow fans to build and display models of their favourite F1 teams. Miniature F1 Collectibles expand on this by offering fans the chance to own all ten teams’ cars and F1-branded show cars, perfect for those looking to celebrate the full grid.

  • LEGO DUPLO F1 Team Race Cars & Drivers
Tailored for younger builders, LEGO DUPLO sets bring the excitement of Grand Prix weekends to life with easy-to-assemble builds. These include a podium, starting grid, two customizable cars, and drivers. Additional pieces allow kids to create unique modifications, sparking creativity while introducing them to the world of racing.

  • LEGO City F1 Range
Six unique sets in the LEGO City lineup offer an immersive play experience, capturing race-weekend activities such as pit stops, vehicle repairs, and the start of the race. Packed with intricate details, these sets aim to recreate the high-energy environment of Formula 1 right at home.

A Unique Opportunity for Investors

LEGO partnerships with iconic brands have consistently performed well in secondary markets, and this collaboration with Formula 1 is likely to follow suit. Collectors and investors can expect these sets to appeal to a broad audience, including motorsport enthusiasts, LEGO fans, and families alike. Limited pre-orders for LEGO Speed Champions will begin in select regions before the official release dates in 2025, signalling potential scarcity and strong aftermarket demand.

‘Build the Thrill’: More Than Just Products

This collaboration goes beyond physical sets. The LEGO Group and Formula 1 will bring fans into the action with interactive experiences throughout the 2025 F1 season. The “Build the Thrill” initiative will introduce digital content and interactive fan zones at Grand Prix™ weekends, enhancing engagement with fans worldwide.

Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at LEGO, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, saying: "We are thrilled to partner with Formula 1, an iconic brand that shares our commitment to innovation, creativity, and inspiring future generations. Together, we’re creating products that ignite curiosity and foster a love of engineering and speed in builders of all ages. This collection uniquely combines the excitement of Formula 1 with the endless possibilities of LEGO play, capturing all 10 teams on the F1 grid for the first time. Our goal is to bring families together to build, explore, and share their passion for the sport, offering something truly special for everyone."

Daniel Meehan, LEGO’s Creative Lead, added: “We’re delighted to finally reveal this incredible line-up of products coming in 2025. We hope these products will provide hours of creativity and play for F1 and LEGO fans alike, allowing them to recreate their favourite racing moments, as well as create some new ones.”
