This magical combination brings the beloved wizarding world to life in brick form. Build your own Hogwarts castle and prepare for adventure with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the gang. And let's be real, who hasn't wanted to see a minifigure version of Hagrid or the Flying Ford Anglia?

The vast majority of Harry Potter sets fall into the specific book/film themes, but we’ve taken a look outside these and the other sets that sit in a more general sub-theme.

We have grouped together 9 retired sets and looked at them as a group and also picked our 3 favourite sets to look at in a little more detail. So, grab your cloak, hop on your broomstick, and get ready to build some magic with LEGO Harry Potter.

4766 LEGO Harry Potter Graveyard Duel

Lego Harry Potter

LEGO released a Harry Potter set known as Graveyard Duel (4766) in 2005, it presents the scene where Harry travels to a cemetery beyond Little Hangleton to help Lord Voldemort revive. Along with other significant characters, Minifigures of Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort, Wormtail, and a Death Eater are included in the set.

Retired towards the end of 2006, this LEGO Harry Potter set came with 548 pieces and 6 Minifigures (5 of which are unique) for an RRP of just £29.99. Today these sets in perfect sealed condition are worth 11 times as much at £335, annualized growth of 15%.

The Minifigures in this set are very valuable, especially hp069 Voldemort which is worth over £100 and hp073 Death Eater which is worth over £50.

4757 LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle

Lego Harry Potter Sets

Set 4757 enables you to explore Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, complete with a clock tower and swinging pendulum, Professor Trelawney's classroom, and the iconic Gryffindor Tower where you can join Harry Potter's world. This intricate set comes with great features, including a secret chamber, a magic mirror and trap door on the magic stairs. You'll be joined on your journey by LEGO Minifigures including Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Professor Dumbledore.

One of the first general LEGO Harry Potter sets from 2004, this set retired in December 2005. The set came with 944 pieces and 9 Minifigures (6 of which are unique) for an RRP of £79.99. The current value is just over 5 times this value at £411, showing annualized growth of 10%.

The Minifigures account for approximately half the value of the set with hp049 Professor Sybill Trelawney and Albus Dumbledore being the pick of them.

10217 LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley

Lego

This set is a perfect representation of the magical world of Harry Potter, that allows anyone to enter the famous Diagon Alley. With three beautifully detailed buildings, this set takes you to Ollivander's for your wand requirements, Borgin and Burke's for all the sinister things, and Gringott's Bank for your goblin needs. Each building has unique, realistic structures with their respective, detailed interiors. This set includes Minifigures of iconic characters equipped with their magic wands, including the Hogwarts trio and other recognizable individuals, along with decorated owls.

A later set than the 2 above, this recreation of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley was launched in January 2011 and retired at the end of the following year. A larger set too coming with 2025 pieces and 12 Minifigures (7 of which are unique) the RRP was £132.99. Today these sets are worth more than treble this at just over £400, annualized growth of 11%.

Whilst this set comes with more Minifigures, they have less value on their own with none of them individually worth much more than £20 and a combined value of just 25% of the sets total price.

Sub-theme Analysis

As a group, the 9 sets would’ve set you back a total of just over £600 and are now worth close to triple that amount at £1800, translating to annualized growth of 10%.

There have been 2 recent additions to the retired group, LEGO Harry Potter Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix (76394) and LEGO Harry Potter & Hermione Granger (76393), with initial prices indicating the former of the two performing better.

There are many sets currently available including LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition (76405), LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043) and LEGO Harry Potter Diagon Alley (75978).
