The Rarest of Rare LEGO Minifigures | Which Rare LEGO Minifigures costs as much as a house? Is it a LEGO Boba Fett Minifigure, Silver C3PO or LEGO R2D2?

Published: 1 year ago

The Rarest of Rare LEGO Minifigures. Which Rare LEGO Minifigures costs as much as a house? Is it a LEGO Boba Fett Minifigure, Silver C3PO or LEGO R2D2? LEGO has been around for decades, but it wasn't until 1978 that the now-iconic LEGO minifigure was created. These little plastic people have become a cornerstone in the world of LEGO, providing countless hours of imaginative playtime for kids (and adults) everywhere. The very first minifigure was released in 1978, and since then we've seen hundreds of unique characters, from knights to astronauts, all with their own individual story to tell. And, as any true LEGO fan knows, half the fun is in collecting different figures and creating your own custom scenes. Who needs actors for a movie when you have a group of minifigures just waiting to come to life? Whether you're a collector or just a casual fan, there's no denying the impact that these lovable little figures have had on the LEGO universe. It's amazing to see how far they've come, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for these tiny but mighty toys.

We looked at some of the exceptionally rare minifigures that have been produced over the years, from a LEGO Boba Fett Minifigure to Silver C3PO and LEGO R2D2. Invariably the formula seems to be: the fewer that were made * the material it was made out of = the higher the price it’s now worth!

Check out some of the most sought after below!

14K Gold C-3PO | $300k

Lego Minifigures

C-3PO LEGO minifigures have seen many releases over the years. From his initial appearance in 7106 Droid Escape to his newest version with fresh arm printing in the Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama. Although most of these have been relatively accurate, only a few rare figures have managed to reproduce the gold-plated look of the original character. The LEGO Group put out 4521221 Chrome Gold minifigures in limited editions to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars franchise. Ten thousand were inserted into LEGO sets and 100 were produced for a promotional giveaway. These are rare, and the latter included a printed backing card and congratulatory winner’s letter. However, the rarest C-3PO minifigure (and priciest LEGO minifigure in the world) is a 14k solid gold version that was one of only five created in 2007 for a LEGO Star Wars 30th anniversary contest. The promotional figure was estimated to be worth between $200k and $500k, with an eBay listing in 2008 selling for $300k.

Official Ninjago Movie wooden Wu Move Prop | $100k

Rare Lego Minifigures

Did you know that The Lego Ninjago Movie features a unique Sensei Wu minifigure created out of wood? Surprisingly, only four were ever produced and they were never meant to be sold. It's safe to say this little guy has become one of the most rare, cherished, collector's items in LEGO history! Valued at $100k, the prop used in the film owned by the movie creator Simon Lucas.

18K White Gold R2-D2 | $40k

Lego

This LEGO R2D2, released in 2017, is a unique piece featuring everyone's favourite astromech droid in 18K white gold - a true symbol of luxury and exclusivity! The figure was made for a Millennium Falcon Black VIP Cardholders contest, whereby anyone who purchased 75192 in 2016 were entered into a prize draw on May 4 to win the unique R2D2 LEGO prize. The lucky winner was Bryan, a lifelong AFOL!

Comic-Con Boba Fett Shadow Box set of 3 | $35k

Lego Enthusiasts

A LEGO Boba Fett Minifigure is a true fan’s favourite, this framed set of 3 Boba Fett Minifigures is only one of 2 available. One framed set was given away at Star Wars Celebration V (2010) and another at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). It is made up of 3 versions of the minifigure, one 14k gold, one sterling silver and one white. Each frame has a frosted glass logo on the bottom left that says the name of the respective convention.

Solid Silver C-3PO | $35K

Lego Enthusiasts

Every anniversary, we can expect the release of new Lego® Minifigures, which can get pretty pricey. Back in May 2007, there were some rare versions and limited editions made available through conventions and contests. Among them was the Solid Silver C3PO minifigure, a one-of-a-kind piece you could only obtain by entering the end-of-event raffle. The winner of the Star Wars Celebration IV contest now owns this minifigure valued at around $35K!
