LEGO Star Wars Cost per Piece – Are We Reaching Breaking Point? Image

The LEGO Star Wars theme has always commanded a premium – big-name licences do that – but recent rumours suggest that price pressure is about to hit collectors harder than ever. According to early reports, 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced will retail for $69.99 with 473 pieces (14.8¢ CPP), and 75423 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing will cost $99.99 with 684 pieces (14.6¢ CPP).

That’s expensive territory, even by LEGO Star Wars standards. While cost per piece (CPP) is never the whole story – minifigure selection, large specialised elements, and licensed premiums can justify higher prices – these numbers point to a steady upward trend that’s hard to ignore.

LEGO Star Wars Pricing in Focus: CPP, Value Picks, and Current Offers

A Look Back at Recent Comparisons

Take 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up, released in 2024. At $109.99 for 1,063 pieces, it worked out at 10.3¢ per brick – and it gave you both ships in one box. The new rumoured 2026 models would cost a combined $169.98 for 1,157 pieces, or 14.7¢ per brick. That’s 55% more money for less than 9% more pieces (approx. 45% more expensive!)

It’s the same story across much of the line-up. Looking at sets from just two or three years ago, we’re often paying more per piece for similar-sized builds. And while Star Wars ships do cycle back into the line-up regularly, each new version seems to edge upwards in cost.

Which Current Sets Are Best Value on CPP Alone?

If you’re purely looking at price per piece – ignoring minifigure collectability, display presence, or the impact of large moulded parts – a few current LEGO Star Wars sets offer standout value:

  • 75377 Invisible Hand – $49.99 for 557 pieces (9.0¢ CPP)
  • 75304 Darth Vader Helmet – $79.99 for 834 pieces (9.6¢ CPP)
  • 75331 UCS Razor Crest – $599.99 for 6,187 pieces (9.7¢ CPP)
  • 75367 UCS Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser – $649.99 for 5,374 pieces (12.1¢ CPP), the lowest CPP of any currently available UCS set

These four show that even in an era of rising costs, there’s still solid build-size-to-price value if you know where to look. The Venator is especially notable, as UCS-scale sets often push CPP much higher, making this a relative bargain in its category.

CPP Trends 2023–2026: What the Numbers Say

Here’s a year-by-year look at LEGO Star Wars CPP of current sets released from 2023 to 2025 (2026 based on rumours for a small sample of sets):

Star Wars Set CPP by Year
Year Lowest CPP Set Highest CPP Set (Excl. Extreme Outliers) Average CPP (¢)
2023 75331 The Razor Crest – 9.7¢ 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle – 13.3¢ 11.12¢
2024 75331 The Razor Crest – 9.7¢ 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea – 14.4¢ 11.51¢
2025 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser – 12.08¢ 75414 The Force Burner Snowspeeder – 15.48¢ 13.38¢
2026* 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced – 14.79¢ 75423 Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing – 14.62¢ 14.71¢

Investment Takeaways

The takeaway for LEGO® Star Wars™ fans and LEGO investors is simple: price rises aren’t slowing down, and the cost to own key ships is increasing faster than inflation. That makes knowing the CPP trends – and grabbing sets that buck the price trend – an important part of smart buying.

If you want either a TIE Fighter or X-Wing in your collection, grabbing 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up now before retirement is an obvious hedge against future price hikes. Similarly, sets like the Venator and Razor Crest could look even better value in hindsight if CPP continues its steady climb.
