The LEGO® Thunder Driller 8960, released in January 2009, is a key set in the Power Miners theme. This rugged vehicle is essential for the Power Miners team, featuring a massive double-geared, auto-rotating planetary drill that can tunnel through solid stone to reach deep underground caverns and hidden rock monster hives. The Thunder Driller's powerful dual-direction drill never stops spinning as long as its magma-core engine is fueled up and its huge spiked wheels keep turning. The motor shield opens to display the gearing system and stored crystals, and the set includes 2 miners, a rock monster, and more. With a vehicle measuring 8" (20cm) long and giant spiky wheels, the Thunder Driller is a must-have for any LEGO enthusiast. The LEGO 8960 set, part of the Power Miners theme, includes 235 pieces and 6 minifigures: Duke, Blue with Yellow Arms, and Goggles (x2), Doc, Blue (x2), and Firox, Trans-Orange (x2). This set is perfect for fans of the Power Miners theme, offering the opportunity to combine it with #8958 Granite Grinder to create the massive Aero Shredder.
