The LEGO Group and SEGA have joined forces to bring exciting news for fans. As part of their collaboration, they are introducing a new building set that will bring beloved characters and scenes from the Sonic universe to life in LEGO form. Additionally, LEGO content will be featured in the highly-anticipated upcoming game, Sonic Superstars. This new game will redefine classic high-speed 2D Sonic platforming with exciting new gameplay elements. These announcements were made live during the annual Sonic Central livestream, which celebrates the iconic hedgehog’s birthday. LEGO enthusiasts can look forward to the release of the Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot building set. This set includes Dr. Eggman, the villain, and Sonic in his Speed Sphere.
The 615-piece set features Dr. Eggman’s mech with a removable capsule that houses small and adorable animals. These animals have been captured by Dr. Eggman and are used to power up his suit. Alongside his assistant Cubot, Dr. Eggman will face off against Sonic in an epic showdown. Sonic has the ability to blast into Dr. Eggman using his Speed Sphere, freeing the captured animals and saving the day. The upcoming release of the LEGO Sonic product range will include a fantastic set that will hit the shelves at authorized retailers from August 2023 onwards.
During the Sonic Central event, more exciting announcements were made, including a new expansion pack for the highly anticipated game, Sonic Superstars. This expansion pack will feature a LEGO Sonic theme, adding a delightful twist to the classic 2D Sonic platforming games. Fans will be thrilled to learn that by pre-ordering the game, they can receive free LEGO Sonic & Eggman skins, providing plenty of brick-built fun.
Sonic Superstars is scheduled for release in fall 2023 and will be available digitally and physically on various platforms, including PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch™ family, and PC.
