LEGO Monkie Kid is an exciting and imaginative theme inspired by the ancient Chinese legends of The Monkey King and The Journey to the West. This vibrant series follows Monkie Kid and his friends—Mei, Tang, Pigsy, Sandy, Mo, and the legendary Monkey King—as they battle evil forces and strive to uphold justice. Set in a mythical landscape, the LEGO Monkie Kid theme breathes new life into these timeless stories, blending traditional Chinese values of courage, wisdom, and resilience with modern storytelling. Through engaging LEGO sets, an animated mini-movie, and a TV series, Monkie Kid captivates audiences of all ages, offering a rich cultural experience that celebrates the power of myth and legend. At Investabrick, we love getting a new LEGO set, and there are several new LEGO Monkie Kid sets which have just been launched this June. We have taken a look at 4 of them. LEGO Monkie Kid’s Team Power Truck (80055), LEGO Monkie Kid Nine Headed Beast (80056), LEGO Monkie Kid Nezha’s Ring of Fire Mech (80057) and LEGO Monkie Kid Celestial Pagoda (80058).

Theme Analysis
LEGO Monkie Kid is a relatively new theme having been launched at the start of 2020. There have already been 50 sets released in this popular theme with over half of them having now retired. The initial returns look quite positive with an average annualised growth of 13%, albeit on a relatively small sample and a short time period.
These sets all come from the Series 5 sub-theme of which all 8 sets now launched haven’t retired.
We have taken a look at some of the sets that have retired in the wider LEGO Monkie Kid theme below. These include LEGO Monkie Kid Demon Bull King (80010) which has seen 72% growth from its $90 RRP since retiring at the end of 2021, LEGO Monkie Kid Iron Bull Tank has seen 50% growth since retiring at the end of 2021 and Monkie Kid Warrior Mech which has seen 36% growth since retiring at the end of 2022. As we say, very encouraging but nothing we here at Investabrick are going to hang our hat on quite yet!
Conclusion
Whilst initial signs from the earliest retiring sets within the LEGO Monkie Kid theme are positive, and we think there are some great sets included in this release, we do see them as LEGO investment opportunities as yet. We will be keeping a close eye on the themes performance over the next 12-18 months and if results continue as positively then these sets will definitely be on our shopping list as we reach the end of 2025 (assuming they are retiring at the end of that year), with our pick of the bunch being LEGO 80058, the Monkie Kid Central Pagoda.
