These LEGO car sets offer a fantastic combination of car replicas, attention to detail, and a hint of high-speed excitement. The range of Speed Champions LEGO vehicles is staggering, covering a wide array of iconic cars from famous manufacturers like Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Audi and BMW.  We always keep an eye out for new sets being released, the 3 new LEGO Speed Champions sets being released on the 1st June 2024 are LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT Super Car (76923), LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes AMG G 63 & Mercedes AMG SL 63 and LEGO Speed Champions Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car and AMR23 (76925)

These sets follow closely on the heels of the 3 LEGO Speed Champions sets launched at the start of March; Ford Mustang Dark Horse Sports Car (76920), Audi S1 e-tron quattro Race Car (76921) and BMW M4 GT3 & BMW M Hybrid V8 Race Cars (76922). You can read our initial review of those 3 sets here.

As regular readers will know we are very keen on investing in the LEGO Speed Champions theme and expect that it will be no different for these 3 sets.

We’ve taken a closer look at the sets details below:

76923 LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT Super Car

76923 LEGO Speed Champions Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision GT Super Car

This futuristic LEGO car captures the essence of the iconic virtual model from the Gran Turismo video game series, making it a must-have for both car enthusiasts and gaming fans. The model showcases the Lamborghini’s famously sharp bodywork, a cockpit that opens by lifting the windshield and hood, and a split rear wing. It also features intricate hexagon details on the wheels’ rims, dual tailpipes, Gran Turismo logos, and distinctive Y-shaped taillights. The set also includes a driver minifigure with a helmet. We think this is a fantastic addition to the Speed Champions theme.

76924 LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes AMG G 63 & Mercedes AMG SL 63

76924 LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes AMG G 63 & Mercedes AMG SL 63

The LEGO Speed Champions Mercedes-AMG G 63 and Mercedes-AMG SL 63 (76924) set brings the luxury and power of these vehicles to life. The black G-class Mercedes-AMG G 63 and the yellow convertible roadster Mercedes-AMG SL 63 have some good details, capturing the essence of their real-life counterparts with authentic front grilles, bonnets, and interior features. Each model also includes a driver minifigure, adding to the playability and display options. In our opinion, this set is a great addition to the LEGO Speed Champions theme and exudes a sense of luxury. However, some enthusiasts might feel that the vehicles lack engine detail, which could have added an extra layer of realism to these impressive replicas.

76925 LEGO Speed Champions Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car and AMR23

76925 LEGO Speed Champions Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car and AMR23

The LEGO Speed Champions Aston Martin Safety Car & AMR23 (76924) set is a great looking set. The Aston Martin Safety Car features authentic design elements such as a roof-mounted light bar, a lights control button sticker inside the cockpit, and accurately depicted taillights. The AMR23 car includes a safety halo, rear wing, and sponsors’ logos, capturing the high-speed essence of the real vehicle. Each car comes with a driver minifigure. In our opinion, both cars complement each other perfectly. However, some fans might be disappointed by the colour discrepancies compared to the real vehicles and the extensive use of stickers!

Conclusion

LEGO Speed Champions has been one of our favourite themes here at Investabrick for a few years now, both from a buy to build but especially from an investment perspective. A very solid LEGO investment theme with average LEGO investment returns of 22% a year and with very, very few sets returning below 10% annual LEGO investment return it is one we will continue to recommend sets from.

The theme is a great place to start for relatively new LEGO investors and also for those who have limited storage space as these sets are small in comparison to most LEGO sets and take up far less storage room.

We will undoubtedly be looking at these sets as strong LEGO investments once we get closer to their retirement dates (hopefully after an 18 month shelf life coming up to the end of 2025) but for now we will be buying one of each to build.
