LEGO Star Wars May the 4th promotions have become a highly anticipated event among LEGO enthusiasts and Star Wars fans alike as it is a great time for LEGO Insiders to grab some great sets for LEGO investment ahead of the crowds as the Star Wars LEGO GWP are released. This annual celebration, held on May 4th, offers exclusive deals, discounts, and promotions on a wide range of LEGO Star Wars sets, ideal for LEGO investing. It's a time where fans can indulge in their passion for both LEGO and iconic Star Wars all at once. At Investabrick, we eagerly await this promotion every year, as we are avid Star Wars LEGO investors…. As they say ‘May the 4th be with you.

This year is even more special as it marks a special milestone as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars LEGO, and we are in for a treat with the launch of five exciting new sets launched for May the 4th across various sub-themes. Among them, the LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor (75382) stands out, evoking nostalgia with its Ultimate Collector Series design. Priced at £199.99/€229.99, this model features intricate details like the distinctive wings and cockpit interior. Other releases include the Mos Espa Podrace Diorama (75380), Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator (75383), Droideka (75381), and BARC Speeder Escape (75378), each retailing from £24.99/€29.99 to £69.99/€79.99. Additionally, fans can look forward to the 25th Anniversary Coffee Table Book, LEGO Star Wars: The Force of Creativity (5008878), available for pre-order from May 1st at £129.99/€149.99.

With May the 4th promotions beginning to heat up, LEGO Insiders can access these sets three days earlier on LEGO.com, ensuring a head start on adding these commemorative pieces to their collections. Keep reading as we will take a look at the new sets in more detail further in the article!

As well as new set launches, May the 4th also brings great LEGO Gifts With Purchase (LEGO GWP). While we ponder which set / sets we might buy to ensure we get all three, we take a look at them in detail below:

LEGO Star Wars Day GWPs

40686 LEGO Trade Federation Troop Carrier

The LEGO Trade Federation Troop Carrier (40686) set

From May 1st to May 5th, LEGO Insiders and LEGO fans, spending £145/€160 or more on any LEGO Star Wars purchase can secure this limited-edition gift with purchase, subject to availability. Aimed at adult builders, this unique Star Wars vehicle accommodates 2 Pilot Battle Droid LEGO figures and 6 Battle Droids, positioned on the rear rack, ready for action in the Battle of Naboo. Mirroring iconic scenes from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, the rack smoothly slides out and unfolds, providing convenient storage for the Battle Droids’ blasters. We love the fact that this set comes with a special LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary brick, making this a great set for the future.

5008818 LEGO Star Wars Collectible: Battle of Yavin

The LEGO Star Wars Collectible: Battle of Yavin (5008818) coin

This non brick, collectible piece features a detailed medal capturing the pivotal moment when Darth Vader targets Luke Skywalker's X-Wing fighter in Episode IV’s thrilling finale. From May 1st to May 5th, LEGO Insiders can secure this LEGO GWP by spending £80/€90 or more on any LEGO® Star Wars™ item, while stocks last!

30680 LEGO Star Wars AAT

The LEGO Star Wars AAT (30680) set

This mini build captures the essence of the formidable floating tanks that played a crucial role on the frontlines of the Trade Federation infantry. Perfectly complementing the 40686 Trade Federation Troop Carrier, this polybag allows you to recreate epic battle scenes from the prequel era of Star Wars. From May 1st to May 5th, LEGO Star Wars enthusiasts who spend £35/€40 or more on any LEGO Star Wars purchase can add this exclusive gift with purchase to their collection, but don’t hang around, we know that LEGO Star Wars GWP are always so popular that stocks don’t last long!

Now that we have taken an overview of LEGO's May the 4th promotions, let’s look at the new launches in more detail.

75382 LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor

The LEGO Star Wars TIE Interceptor (75382)

Following the success of last year's 75355 X-wing Starfighter, which paid homage to the classic 7191 X-wing Fighter, the iconic 7181 TIE Interceptor receives a modern update in the form of the 75382 TIE Interceptor. This set includes great detail in its distinctive wings, cockpit interior, laser cannons, and rear engine. Measuring over 40 cm long, the set comes with a display stand featuring an information plaque, a LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary brick, and space for the included TIE Pilot LEGO minifigure and LEGO mouse droid figure. With unparalleled detail, outstanding accuracy, an impressive interior, and ideal display potential, we think that this updated version of the classic TIE Interceptor is a must-have for any LEGO Star Wars enthusiast.

75380 LEGO Star Wars Mos Espa Podrace Diorama

The LEGO Star Wars Mos Espa Podrace Diorama (75380) set

This set allows you to channel the Force just like Anakin Skywalker as you recreate his race through Arch Canyon in pursuit of his rival, Sebulba. Capturing the essence of the iconic scene, this 718 piece diorama is a testament to the intricate detail and craftsmanship of LEGO. We think that while dioramas can sometimes fall short of capturing the true essence of a scene, we feel that this set is a step in the right direction, offering fans a captivating and immersive experience.

383 LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator

The LEGO Star Wars Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator (75383) set

A must-have for Star Wars fans and collectors, this set features a meticulously detailed LEGO brick-built model of Darth Maul’s personal starship, complete with a host of interactive features. With fold-out wings, retractable landing gear, spring-loaded shooters, and a compartment for launching DRK-1 Probe Droids, the action-packed adventures are endless. Plus, the set includes four LEGO minifigures including Darth Maul, Anakin Skywalker, Qui-Gon Jinn, and an exclusive LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary Saw Gerrera minifigure with a display stand. We think that this set boasts numerous positives – from its impressive model design to its seamless integration of play features, along with standout minifigures like the 25th anniversary Saw Gerrera figure, making it a standout addition to any Star Wars collection.

5381 LEGO Star Wars Droideka

The LEGO Star Wars Droideka (75381) set

With 583 pieces and designed for ages 18 and up, this buildable destroyer LEGO droid figure offers a nostalgic nod to the Invasion of Naboo in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and the action-packed Star Wars: The Clone Wars adventures. Complete with a stand featuring an information plaque, a LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary brick, and space for the included small LEGO figure of a Droideka, this display set is a must-have for adult fans. At Investabrick, we love the attention to detail, including the Droideka's movable arms that replicate its shooting motion, as well as the ability to reattach the legs to transform it into its iconic ball shape. This set is one we will be putting in our basket!

75378 LEGO Star Wars BARC Speeder Escape

The LEGO Star Wars BARC Speeder Escape (75378) set

Featuring a LEGO brick-built speeder bike with a sidecar, equipped with a minifigure cockpit and 2 stud shooters, this set promises high-speed excitement. Grogu's hoverpram can be securely clipped into the detachable sidecar for added adventure. Complete with a small scenery build and three LEGO minifigures including Kelleran Beq with blue and green lightsabers, and two 501st Clone Troopers armed with blasters, as well as a LEGO figure of Grogu, this set is sure to delight. While the price tag of £24.99, $29.99, or €29.99 may seem steep for a set containing just a BARC speeder, we find the set to be well designed and believe that the inclusion of the minifigures may justify the cost, making it a worthwhile addition to any Star Wars collection.

Star Wars Theme

25 years of LEGO Star Wars sets and what an amazing theme it has been for LEGO investors with over 900 sets across 50 different subthemes and it shows no signs of slowing down or stopping.

The theme has delivered strong, consistent LEGO investment returns of an average of 12% a year, with a large number of sets performing well in excess of that.

Over recent years the performance of recently retired sets seems to be as strong as ever with the sets retiring in 2022 showing an average 19% growth in the following year, and those retiring in 2020 showing an average growth of 47% across the 3 years following retirement to the end of 2023 (average annualised growth of 14%)

Going forward, at Investabrick we think the LEGO Star Wars theme will continue to be a strong one for LEGO investors, with the majority of LEGO Star Wars sets delivery good LEGO investment returns above the average, but there will also be some sets that exceed this and deliver exceptional LEGO investment returns and it’s these blockbuster LEGO investments that we will continue to help you seek out!
