The LEGO Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion (76294) set is a meticulously crafted homage to the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning inspired by the beloved X-Men ’97 animated series. This impressive 3,093-piece set spans two levels, measuring over 40 cm wide, and is packed with intricate details and references to iconic characters and scenes, including Cerebro and a formidable buildable Sentinel figure. Fans will delight in the inclusion of 10 X-Men minifigures—Professor X, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Gambit, Rogue, Iceman, Bishop, and Magneto. The upper level features Professor X's laboratory, Wolverine's bedroom, and a medical lab, while the ground floor boasts a lobby, classroom, and library. Enhancing playability, the set includes the Danger Room training facility, complete with a sliding door for access and customizable walls. Investment Potential
LEGO Marvel isn’t always our first port of call when looking for LEGO investments but this LEGO The X-Mansion looks a great set, but will it make a good investment? LEGO 76294 comes with just over 3,000 pieces giving a price per brick of 11c/10p and comes with 10 LEGO minifigures and is certainly one we will be keeping an eye on in the future. Theme Analysis
Solid if unspectacular and very much a set pickers theme is the best way for us at Investabrick to sum up LEGO Marvel Superheroes. On average the LEGO Marvel Superheroes theme returns average annualised growth of 10%. We took a look below at the retired sets with higher RRPs and this group slightly underperformed the 10% average.
LEGO The Shield Helicarrier (76042) has seen 50% total growth from its $350 RRP since retiring in 2017 (6% annualised growth) whilst LEGO Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown has seen 60% total growth from its $100 RRP since retiring in 2019 (10% annualised growth).
Comparable Sets
There are just 3 retired sets with the LEGO X-Men subtheme within LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and we have looked at them below. On average they return 16% annualised growth albeit these sets are clearly at a far lower price point than LEGO 76294.
These sets include LEGO Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown which has seen its price soar from a retiring RRP of $20 in 2013 to over $250 ten years later, stunning total growth of 1155% (annualised growth 26%). X-Men vs. The Sentinel (76022) has seen more than 150% increase in total value since retiring in 2015 with a $50 RRP (11% annualised growth).
Conclusion
A good looking set for Marvel and especially X-Men fans, LEGO 76294 is sure to be a popular set when launched at the start of November. Will it prove to be a good investment is hard to tell but coming from a set pickers theme it is definitely one we will look at in more detail when it has been at retail sale for a decent time.
