Theme Analysis
LEGO BrickHeadz is currently one of our favourite LEGO investment themes at Investabrick, as can be seen by the number of sets we think that will do well post-retirement is double that of any other LEGO investment theme.
Since it’s the first LEGO BrickHeadz was released in 2016 there have now been over 150 sets released which have delivered an average annualised growth of 22%. At Investabrick, we see LEGO BrickHeadz as primarily a short term LEGO investment theme, mainly looking to sell within a year of retirement but it can be a lot shorter than that as opportunities often arise to lock in a decent profit in as little as days or weeks!
As an example, if we look just at the sets that retired at the end of 2023, one set is valued just below its RRP, one has 35% growth, two at 70% growth and one at 120% growth. This shows very clearly that amazing growth figures are possible but also that you need to pick which sets you invest in carefully. And bear in mind there are often opportunities to sell at even higher figures if you pick an opportune time!
LEGO BrickHeadz is the perfect theme for those with smaller budgets, limited storage space and who prefer a shorter timescale for their investments and we think this year will have some great future LEGO investments in. Take your pick of the sets we have looked at or even look to add them all to your LEGO investment portfolio, just don’t expect to be holding onto them for too long after retirement!
