The LEGO® Dragon of the East Palace 80049 set was released in June 2023 as part of the Monkie Kid theme's Season 4. This 2,364-piece set is inspired by the classic Journey to the West novel and is designed to inspire children aged 10 and up, as well as their families, to recreate iconic worlds and reimagine legendary tales together. The set includes 8 action minifigures, including Monkie Kid in scuba gear, Monkey King, Dragon of the East, Turtle Minister, 2 Shrimp Soldiers, and 2 Crab Generals, as well as weapons, a hidden scroll, and other play starters. The intricately detailed underwater palace of the Dragon of the East features multiple detailed rooms, an opening function, and a rotating dragon with a posable arm. The fully opened palace measures over 14.5 in. (37 cm) high, 18.5 in. (47 cm) wide, and 9.5 in. (25 cm) deep, encouraging both endless play and opportunities for display. LEGO 80049 is a buildable play-and-display set that allows children and adults to share the Monkey King legend in a modern and playful way. The LEGO Builder app guides children on an intuitive building adventure with tools that let them zoom in and rotate models in 3D while they build. This set can also be mixed with other Monkie Kid sets (80046, 80047, and 80048, sold separately) to enhance the creative adventures kids invent and play out.
