Theme Analysis

LEGO Speed Champions remains one of our favourite themes for investment purposes with an average annualised growth of greater than 20% and consistent performance across almost all retired sets to date.

Some of our favourites are below and include: LEGO Porsche 918 Spyder (75910) which is worth more than 5 times its £13 RRP just 7 years after retiring (28% annualised growth), LEGO Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (75870) which has grown by 385% since retiring in 2017 (30% annualised growth), LEGO Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H (75879) which has more than trebled from its £13 RRP since retiring at the end of 2018 (27% annualised growth) and LEGO Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC (75885) which has seen over 150% growth since retiring at the end of 2019 (27% annualised growth).

We are expecting to see some similar performance from these sets in the future as the LEGO Speed Champions theme continues to be a very strong one for LEGO investors.

Conclusion

At Investabrick, we think these are 3 great new additions to the LEGO Speed Champions theme and will be great LEGO investments in the future. These LEGO cars have very high demand that continues long after they retire from retail sales and we see no reason why these 3 new LEGO sets won’t deliver the same LEGO investment returns in excess of 20% a year. The only downside to buying currently is that they are fresh releases and thus are expected to be at retail sale for at least a year and 9 months and potentially longer than that.

There are a number of LEGO Speed Champion Cars slated to retire in 2024 and these are likely to be a better investment in the short term and should take priority to be added to your LEGO investment portfolio.

The 9 LEGO Speed Champions sets expected to retire in 2024 are:

We have written detailed articles for the majority of these sets and these can be found on our Investabrick site. We think that all of these Speed Champions LEGO cars will prove to be successful Legos investments but our favourites would be LEGO Porsche 963 (76916), LEGO Ferrari 812 Competizone (76914) and LEGO 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R.

All of these LEGO Speed Champions cars can be bought for their RRP at LEGO or head to Amazon where you may well find 10-20% (or slightly bigger) discounts.
