Fox as Marty McFly, a high school student who accidentally travels back through time and must make sure his parents end up together so he can return to the present day. Along with great special effects and a catchy soundtrack, the movie is known for its clever plot and witty dialogues and of course the Iconic car; the DeLorean DMC-12, featuring gull wing doors, a fiberglass body and stainless-steel panels. Investment Potential
The Back to Future films were amazingly entertaining, plenty of action, humour and so very entertaining. This set is a perfect tribute to those films. The loving place in our hearts for this movie franchise was seen when it was very quickly out of stock after being released last year. This has undoubtably made the set continuously popular which will continue into retirement. The set is part of the rock solid LEGO Icons theme and comes with a couple of unique LEGO minifigures that are already valued at £35.

Theme Analysis
The excellent LEGO Icons theme has plenty of variety when looking at LEGO builds and across the LEGO theme there is a very solid 7% Annualised growth. We wanted though to look at some LEGO cars within the theme to have a more focused analysis and we started this by looking at the below LEGO sets. LEGO Volkswagen Beetle, LEGO Ferrari F40, LEGO Mini Cooper Mk VII interestingly these sets have an average annual appreciation of 20%.
Set Number | Set Name | Retired Date | RRP | Current Value | Total Growth | Annualised Growth |
10252 | Volkswagen Beetle | December 2020 | £75 | £99 | 32% | 13% |

Comparable Set Analysis
When doing some comparable set analysis we wanted to look firstly at the older set that LEGO released in tribute to the Back To The Future Delorean. LEGO The Delorean Time Machine has had great investment returns with a very strong total growth of 263% and Annualised growth of 17%. With this set being very different to the new LEGO set we feel that we wouldn’t typically worry about diluting any potential investment value and it does show that it’s a very popular franchise with LEGO buyers. We also looked at LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto 1 and Ecto 2 this also has been a really strong investment so far with 111% total growth and 12% annualised growth. Finally we felt it was worth to look at another adored franchise and look at the retirement pop as this set will likely retire later this year. The LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5 has had total growth of 15% already and annualised growth of 12%.
Set Number | Set Name | Retired Date | RRP | Current Value | Total Growth | Annualised Growth |
21103 | The DeLorean Time Machine | December 2014 | £35 | £127 | 263% | 17% |
10262 | James Bond Aston Martin DB5 | January 2022 | £130 | £150 | 15% | 12% |
21108 | Ghostbusters Ecto 1 | November 2016 | £45 | £95 | 111% | 12% |
Conclusion
To conclude we are pretty sure that Marty Mcfly should buy 100 of these sets and get in his own Delorean Time Machine and travel 10 years into the future because this set will be worth a lot of money as all the data steers us towards this being a great investment. A massive thumbs up and Invest for us here at Investabrick.com. On a final note this really is one of the best LEGO builds we have seen for many a year so make sure you have one to buy yourself to build. Invest and Build.
