Investment Potential
A great looking set of the 1990s iconic game character Sonic the Hedgehog but does that translate into being a decent investment?
Whilst LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone is available at an RRP of £69.99 at LEGO.com, there are decent discounts elsewhere. It can be purchased at Amazon for a £30 discount to £39.99 and also a £30 discount on Zavvi to £39.99 (using code SONIC)

Theme Analysis
The Ideas theme is a strong one producing close to 20% annualised growth across a very diverse range of sets (albeit they are not always easily compared).
LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310) has nearly trebled in value since retiring at the end of 2018 (annualised growth 26%) and LEGO Ideas Maze (21305) has more than doubled since retiring in 2016 (13% annualised growth)

We have looked further within the Licensed sub-theme where there has been annualised growth of 16% historically and there some excellent performing sets including LEGO Ideas Wall-E (21303) which has increased in value more than 5-fold since retiring at the end of 2016 producing stunning annualised growth of 31% whilst LEGO Ideas The DeLorean Time Machine (21103) is now worth over 4 times its RRP (annualised growth of 19%).

Conclusion
This really is a slam dunk set for us. An iconic character in the Ideas theme and Licensed sub-theme both of which have excellent historic performance. We would happily recommend buying LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone at RRP, but we are currently purchasing it at just over half of its RRP. Buy, and buy now!!!
